The brief:
Native salvaged stone, slate, reclaimed oak, dramatic sea views framed by wide expanses of glass, round towers hearkening back to an old lighthouse, grassy undulations of surrounding drumlins, inlets, rugged coastlines
a refuge, a place to read, to rest, to nest, to connect with earthly pleasures, with each other.
We are inspired by the landscape to reveal the bold textures of the materials we choose, the rough and smooth feel of timber when cleft, polished, carved, scorched, limed, oiled, the surprising pattern of Irish salmon skin, the echo of stone walls, a tradition of storytelling, ancient myths still resonant in contemporary Ireland today.
Were not in New York, Miami, LA, Paris or Rome. Were in Ireland, timeless, contemporary, mythical, prosperous, gregarious, inward-looking, scholarly, irreverent, sensual, cerebral, insular, worldly a harmony of contradictions. We plow a bold path, sometimes refined, sometimes gloriously raw, always informed by heart and head, always reaching towards a communion with spirit.
